Disaster in Nepal

On Saturday, April 25th, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck central Nepal, a tragedy on a catastrophic scale. The earthquake and the resulting 98 aftershocks were the worst in 80 years, claiming an estimated 8,400 lives so far and displacing thousands more. Many on the Ralo team have family and friends who have been affected by the disaster and have heard firsthand about the desperate shortage of medical aid, clean water, food and shelter.

Ralo’s work would not be possible without the warmth, hospitality and craftsmanship of the Nepali people. Each and every Ralo rug is woven on the looms of Nepal by remarkably talented Nepali and Tibetan craftsmen and women. Our hearts and prayers are with those in affected areas and we passionately wish to aid them in this time of crisis.

On The Ground Relief Efforts

Ralo is partnering with the Himalayan Health Initiative and other NGOs to organize a Benefit Concert for the Nepal Earthquake Relief Effort. Ralo will match donations made at the event*, and cover all event expenses to maximize the impact of donations made. We pledge that 100% of the proceeds will go to on-the-ground relief with an emphasis on medical assistance and basic necessities.

If you are unable to join us, please consider supporting our relief effort by making adonation. Alternately, checks to “Himalayan Health Initiative”, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, can be mailed to our showroom. All donations are tax-deductible.
